New Portfolio Additions and Thoughts

Recently as I have been looking for job openings post-graduation, I realised that I didn't have a proper portfolio in place for prospective employers to view. So one morning, I found myself making this website to show off my work and behold! I realised I had hardly any good content, and the projects I had once thought were my magnum opus were not, in fact, magnum nor opus. Stuck between dumping awful university projects into the website or creating entirely new designs which would have me clawing my eyeballs out in frustration, I went digging to find something suitable.
Here are some of my recent projects that I find joy in, and that I don't want to immediately throw into the deep, dark pit of my hard drive and never view again:
End Loneliness Day Infographics (CQU, 2025)
I started working at CQU in 2025 on the Rockhampton campus while I finished my Bachelor of Digital Media. My role as a Student Ambassador was possibly the best job I had held up until this moment in time, and I essentially helped organise and run events, talk to students to get engagement with events up, debrief with the Vice Chancellor and supervisors to figure out what was and wasn't working at each event, and most importantly snack on the free food as I was also a student and allowed to take a little treat to snack on. The uniform was a plus, and I felt very official running around in 35 degree heat with my wheely wagon trailing behind.
My coworker one day approached me and asked if I'd like to create some infographics for the 2026 End Loneliness Day initiative, something that CQU supports and sponsors. As a student, I was more than happy to complete these designs for free as I needed some portfolio designs and I was extremely honoured to do this. Over the course of two months I worked on the designs, creating assets and checking correspondence between my coworker so that I could input the correct text into each infographic. It was challenging as this was intended to be posted in July 2026 and they needed to be professional but appealing for students, and clear enough that anyone could access the information written on them. There was also a lot of text to incorporate so this was difficult. Overall, my supervisors were happy with the results, particularly with the computer one, and I'm excited to see my work used to help others experiencing loneliness.
Bob's Garage Website (2025)
As part of my last year of study, I was involved in a two-part collaborative project with some fellow digital media students and we worked on Bob's Garage: the website for McCosker's new men's mental health facility located in Gladstone, QLD. We had regular meetings with our client who was quite happy with our designs and had minimal revisions for our designs. After thorough testing of the website, it went live in October, 2025, and was featured at a local industry event. You can view Bob's Garage down below:
The Fool Photography Project (2026)
"The Fool" is a project that is very personal to me and represents the feelings of performance and idiocy in my daily life. At the age of 15 I started questioning if I had a neurodivergence or autism after a lifetime of rejection, alienation and feeling inadequate despite my best efforts. At the age of 21 I truly realised that I was part of the autism community after extensive personal research, and I finally accepted my differences and started to apply accommodations into my daily life to ease comorbid symptoms from anxiety and environmental sensitivities.
The Fool is all about performing and hiding parts of yourself for the audience- you put on the mask and show them what they want to see so that they like you. I dressed myself in a dunce cap that doubles as a clown hat to represent the constant feeling of idiocy that follows me around: nothing I seem to do is correct, I don't understand things the way others do, maybe I'm an actual fool and the village idiot. The makeup was inspired by classic harlequin designs and the tear on my cheek shows how sad the Fool is performing and how she knows this is the only way the audience will truly like her.
This was shot on an old Nikon camera and edited on Photoshop to erase the timer remote in my hand and give a dreamy feeling to each photo.
Graphic Design (Golden Delicious and Digital Media poster)
I absolutely adore 60's psychedelic art and I often incorporate this into designs and projects as I often consider this part of my personal style. On the left is a photo of a perfume design I made for my brother, and the right is a poster promotion the Bachelor of Digital Media course in 2024.
I decided to make a perfume for my brother as a Christmas present as he was looking for a green apple scent and unimpressed with how expensive perfume was. I set out looking for a green apple scent oil as I make candles and perfumes as a hobby, and eventually found one in a discount store (of all places). After sourcing a nice bottle and filling it with the new perfume, I decided that the bottle itself was a bit boring so I started drawing a logo design and transferred this into Adobe Illustrator to make a digital version. I had to think hard about a name that was suitable for an apple perfume, and eventually settled on Golden Delicious - a type of apple. I cut the design using my Silhouette machine and some permanent vinyl and then spent a good solid 2 hours weeding the design and sticking each small part to the bottle. The end result was stylish, elegant and interesting.
The poster I made for the Bachelor of Digital Media course was fun to create. I was excited as the best designs who achieved a High Distinction would be displayed on campus. Unfortunately my font and wording choices let me down, and I missed out on a HD by one mark (I'm still upset at you for that, Michelle). I'm still proud of what I was able to achieve with it, and it is now printed out and displayed on my wall.
Final Thoughts
I'm always creating something - I love seeing a project unfold from the initial conception to the finished product. And I know that there is still much that I need to learn in terms of design, but I always enjoy what I create and I can't wait to see where life takes me in terms of my creativity.
